the 16th Edition of Kigali International Peace Marathon Postponed to June 2020

Due to the severe global situation of the ongoing uncertainty created by the rapid spread of COVID-19 which have seriously compromised National and International events in so many countries, the organization of Kigali International peace Marathon took a prudent precaution & the decision to postpone the 16th Edition of Kigali International Peace Marathon, which was scheduled for May 17, 2020 and is moved to 21st June 2020. The postponement comes two months before thousands of participants from across the world were scheduled to participate in the annual marathon through the streets of Kigali City one of the cleanest Cities on earth with a view that is bound to be etched in the minds of KIPM Participants for a long time after the event and can really soothe their nerves.

we understand that unforeseen circumstances can often interfere with the plans of our participants, and We know the postponement will disappoint many runners who have trained towards this marathon for months. But based on the recent development of events around the world, we no longer consider it safe nor responsible to go through with it in May and moving it forward is the only choice.

We have been closely monitoring the rapidly-evolving situation of the COVID-19 outbreak. The health and safety of our participants, volunteers, and the Rwandan community is our absolute top priority and we will continue to remain vigilant as developments transpire. Given this generous decision, we encourage runners to not hesitate to register for the Marathon on 21st June 2020. And we promise to deliver a memorable event.

At this time, all events associated with the Kigali International Peace Marathon are also re-scheduled and their new dates shall be communicated soon. In the extremely unlikely event that current health concerns continue, we will take extraordinary measures to ensure a safe environment for the race or we will inform if the event is cancelled. In the meantime, we encourage all to strictly adhere to the health authorities’ guidelines regarding personal hygiene and appropriate social distancing.

Once again we would like to sincerely thank everyone for choosing to take part in the 2020 Kigali International Peace Marathon.
We promise to deliver a memorable experience to all participants.
